These are the various blogs that I read that I feel are important for others to read.

There are many more, of course, but this is a fairly comprehensive list.

Suggested Books:

  • Loud Hands, autistic people speaking (an anthology compiled by Julia Bascom)
  • Criptiques (an anthology compiled by Caitlin Wood)
  • The Ugly Laws by Susan M. Schweik
  • Fit to Be Tied by Rebecca M. Klutchin
  • A Disability History of the United States by Kim E. Nielson
  • New Directions in Special Education: eliminating ableism in policy and practice by Thomas Hehir
  • Help at Any Cost: How the Troubled-Teen Industry Cons Parents and Hurts Kids by Maia Szalvatiz
  • Black Girl Dangerous by Mia McKenzie
  • Covering: the Hidden Assault on our Civil Rights by Kenji Yoshino
  • Stigma: Notes on the Management of Spoiled Identity by Erving Goffman. (Note: this book contains offensive and outdated language because it was written in 1963 from a relatively aloof perspective. The theory in it, however, is rich and well worth a read.)
  • Captive Genders: Trans Embodiment in the Prison Industrial Complex [2nd Expanded Edition]
  • Why Are Faggots So Afraid of Faggots? Flaming Challenges to Masculinity, Objectification, and the Desire to Conform
  • Disability Incarcerated

I will suggest more as I read more.
